Tesla - 11" x 14" Oil on Canvas
Background Info. - This is actually a portrait of one of my own cats, and its the first of a set of 3 that I'm painting for my wife.
Insight - I chose the reference photo I did, not only because it showed some of Tesla's personality, but I also thought it had some interesting angles of his face and ears.
And because its the first of a set of matching portraits, I used a simple background that will be easy to match when the next 2 portraits are painted. I chose the blue because it will go well with the other colors in the room where the portraits will be hung.
Owners Comments - "Oh my god, it looks so much like him I'd swear I was looking at a giant photograph. His eyes look so real... great job!" - Diane Wilson

Zappa - 14" x 18" Oil on Canvas
Background Info. - Zappa passed on recently, and the family wanted a custom portrait to remember him.
Insight - There wasn't any good reference photo's of Zappa available, but the family did find a picture in a calendar that looked exactly like him except for the colors in his face.
They wanted a "heavenly looking" custom background, showing him in the clouds with a rainbow. And by using a 14" x 18" canvas we were able to keep Zappa at his actual size, which is always best.
Owners Comments - "WOW!!!! absolutely perfect. You're truly unbelievable. Thanks so much!" - Tom & Jacqui Cooke

JR - 12" x 16" Oil on Canvas
Background Info. - JR was a Big Cat, almost 35 lbs. He also passed away recently and his "mother" missed him.
Insight - She told me that one of his favorite things was laying on, and playing with cardboard and cardboard boxes, so I painted him on an opened Sprite box with a freshly torn up corner.
The plants were added to balance and give more depth to the painting. For references I actually used photos of my own house plants, which were similar to plants I saw in some of the owners reference photo's.
Owners Comments - "Its Wonderful! I feel like I have "My Baby" back, and his eyes follow me wherever I go. I love it so much, thank you!" - Lorayne Wilson
